Radeon HD 2900 Pro benchmarked

I as reported earlier AMD is planning to introduce a mid-range Radeon HD 2900 Pro graphics card. The chaps over at Polish hardware site PCLab.pl were lucky enough to take a 2900 Pro for a spin, and they have a few performance numbers to show for it. PCLab's benchmarks include 3DMark06, F.E.A.R., Prey, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. In the four game tests, the 2900 Pro is on average about 19% slower than the full-blown Radeon HD 2900 XT at stock speeds. The 2900 Pro manages to edge out Nvidia's GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and keep up with it in Oblivion, while falling behind in the other two tests. PCLab was also able to overclock the upcoming Pro to respective core and memory speeds of 750MHz and 900MHz, at which point it outdid the 742MHz/825MHz Radeon HD 2900 XT. If AMD prices the 2900 Pro around the $250 mark as expected, the card could be a tantalizing option for overclockers. (thanks TechReport)
