iPlate: simple speed up for ADSL
For all of you sad lot that don't have cable and rely on BT and it's skinny copper wire here is your salvation. Well a bit of help anyhow...
It's your bell wire! you see... you don't need one cos phones are better than they once were. They are electronic now rather than the prehistoric electromechanical beastie they once were. That bell wire, it's causing problems with your tinterwebbynet and has to go!
If your not upto fiddling with wires in your master socket (it will piss off BT if you do) Broadbandbuyer.co.uk has the answer in the form of an iPlate. The name, what's with putting an "i" in front of anything tech or cool? a few years ago it would have been called an ePlate and back in the 80's a TurboPlate... Anyhow it costs around a 15 quid'ish and will take only a minuet to fit. The speed increase is not right there and then. It take BT a few days for their automatic do'hicky to notice the change and turn the speed up.
There you go, some people have reported a 50% increase in speed but that was when they were getting very poor speed in the first place. If it makes a big difference or a small one it's still worth doing, what have you to lose, apart from fifteen quid and some of your time
