Rumor: Next Modern Warfare To Be A Prequel?

An “unnamed source” has apparently told an Xbox fansite that the next installment of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be a prequel to the previous games. The source also said it’s being developed by Infinity Ward.
This unnamed source has also revealed information in the past on Gears of War 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops, and Kinect. Even with if those rumors turned out to be true, you have to take this information with a grain of salt — nothing is confirmed.
The source states that you will follow the origin story of the character Ghost and the events before the first two games. It will show the events that started this war in the first place, so you could be revisiting previous locations in the first two games. Hey it could work, it worked with Halo: Reach. This is the same idea in a way.
With any major sequel, there are never just one set of rumors, even before this one. People have come out to state that the third game in the series will pick up after the events of the second game, and conquer the final frontier that is space. Hell, who knows, they could both be true, this is Activision after all. Having two Call of Dutygames in a year would come as no shock to me.
You must remember these are just rumors and speculation, so don’t go shouting at the rooftops that this is true.
