Battlefield: Bad Company 2 'Some of my thoughts'

Well I like the Beta, it runs just fine on my PC. My only real criticism is on a full server it can become a little fraggie. Dare I say it for game play, 24 might be a better solution than 32. It's great that the Windows game can handle 32 players but if the maps and game play were designed for fewer numbers it should be of no surprise that 32 can get a little crowded. The time from spawn to death on a full server is normal measured by a hand full of seconds, giving you plenty of time looking at the re-spawn screen! It often feels that the very instant to get to your desired position a bullet with your name on comes your way. I do like the special attention they are lavishing on the Windows game. Greater tweaks and features to take advantage of the superior hardware that some Windows systems have.

Still there are some that are not happy with this game. They have a point! The lack of publicly available server software. The heavily restrictive choose of GSP's. And the complete lack of mod tools are some of the issues. It of course means that there will be no custom content. It will curtail the serous competition scene.

I can't see any of these issues affecting sales in the first 6 months. They will have an affect on future sales as gamers drift away to newer games. If the game did have these tools and features the it would continue. Gaining the franchise and company kudos and steady if low level continued sales long into the future. There would be a foundation of players and community to support the next incarnation of the BF series.
