Who needs a faster CPU?

It has an awful lot to do with the games you play. So many games run on one core, so GHz is what your after. Lots of games wouldn't push a modern fast CPU. The worlds most played FPS games runs on only a single core! Heck a smart phone could probably play the HL games at the top of the list.

Because Call of Duty World at War is a Game for Windows Live game GameSpy does not track servers and players. We have to go with a 3rd party to gather CoD:WW stats.

If CoD:4 runs on my crapola E2160@2.6 around 80% load, with Max eye-candy at 120fps+ how much more do you want??

There are a handful of games like Crysis:2 that will give your CPU a workout, but not as many as you might think. Most news games are pegged at XBox360 spec. PC's have out stripped the consoles years ago. 90% of mainstream games are XBox360 ports, ergo you PC is already more powerful than you need if that's what you want to play.

The biggie is the handful of games that are not Console ports. These rare games are what you need to play to get the most out of your PC. Games like ArmA-II.

That's the game argument, there is of course VT and encoding. Never forget bragging rights! where would we be without bragging rights!

But gaming, Na, gaming is slowly becoming less important for pushing CPU power. It's only important if you play low volume games like ArmA-II or MS upgrade the XBox to the 720 or something.
